In the near future, companies that have applied for a tender for the construction of the plant will be named. To participate in the tender for the construction of a plant for processing solid domestic waste (SDW) in Lviv, filed applications for five foreign companies. This was announced by the mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovoy.
“As of 12:00, applications have been received from five large Western companies, we expect a few more applications by the end of the day,” he said during the briefing.
According to the mayor, all these companies have “great experience” in the construction of relevant facilities. He also promised that the list of companies will be made public soon.
It was reported that on June 8, an announcement was announced on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) about the start of tender procedures for the construction of a waste processing plant in Lviv. The prequalification procedure ends on July 9th.
As ZN.UA wrote, the existing penalties for violation of requirements during the treatment of waste in Ukraine do not fulfill the function assigned to it. Complicating the situation is the fact that many persons who act contrary to the established procedure remain unpunished. As a result, more than 27,500 unauthorized landfills are formed on the territory of our state each year, forests are turned into garbage, and people throw paper and cigarette butts just in the middle of the street. Therefore, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered bills aimed at combating garbage and protecting the environment.
